Light is the new black when it comes to strollers. Lately, lightweight strollers that convert into a travel system are all the rage among parents. With the high price of quality strollers, more and more parents are looking into investing on just one that they can use from day one until they no longer need a stroller. If you’re on the same boat and is looking for more options, another strong candidate to consider is the Mountain Buggy Nano Stroller. Is the Mountain Buggy Nano a good investment?

Notable Features of the Mountain Buggy Nano
1. Weighs Only 13 lbs!
This stroller is marketed as ‘First Class Travel Stroller’ because of its size. It easily fits inside vehicles, trains, luggage units and airplane storage bins. But you don’t need to be a frequent traveler to appreciate its size. Even condo dwellers, who have limited space at home, and people like me, who have weak backs will find this to be appealing. It even comes with its own satchel bag so it is easy to carry around and store when not in use.
2. High Weight Capacity of 44 lbs!
If weight and size are your priorities, this could easily land on top of your list but take note that weight limit is up to 44 lbs or about the average weight of a 4-year-old child.
3. Easy 2-Step Fold Fold

4. Travel-System Ready
You can maximize this stroller in 4 different ways.
Stroller + Newborn Cocoon Carrycot
Your ever-sleeping newborn will thank you if you pair this stroller with a Mountain Buggy Cocoon carrycot. Although, I am not really a fan of carrycots because babies outgrow them really, really fast, it is best to invest in one if you foresee your newborn riding the stroller for long hours. This is to protect his or her fragile spine. This version is compatible with a Mountain Buggy Cocoon Carrycot.
- Stroller + Infant Car Seat
You can transfer your baby while on his car seat from stroller to car or vice versa in seconds. Compatible with almost all major brands of infant car seats in the market, this stroller already has a built-in adapter so there is no need to purchase a separate one. The car seat though is not included in the package and has to be bought separately.
Compatible Car Seats:
- Mountain Buggy Protect
- Chicco Keyfit
- Graco Snugride Click Connect 22
- Graco Snugride CLick Connect 35
- Maxi-Cosi Pebble
- Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix
- Maxi-Cosi Mico
- Britax Safe-n-Sound Unity
- Peg Perego Primo Viaggio
Your baby can use this as a forward-facing stroller as soon as he or she reaches 6 months. Whether your baby’s in the mood to see the sights or take a nap, the well-padded seat will surely keep him or her comfortable all throughout the ride. The back rest reclines to as low as 130 degree so and it also has an adjustable leg rest that can be lifted up to support child’s legs.
With a Freerider Child Scooter
Expecting another baby soon? Your older child need not be left out on this stroller. A Mountain Buggy Freerider Child Scooter may be attached at the rear so he or she can ride along with the new baby. This accessory is sold separately.
Anatomy of a Mountain Buggy Nano Stroller
The EVA Wheels
The manufacturer of the stroller boasts about its all-terrain agility and the Mountain Buggy Nano Stroller did not disappoint. The 5-inch EVA wheels and rear-wheel suspension made strolling on smooth roads a breeze. EVA wheels are the same kind of rubber used in bikes. This means your stroller tires are durable. low maintenance and has a nice traction.
You may feel a little shake on bumpy streets but it is generally tolerable given that this is still an umbrella stroller. You may minimize the vibrations by locking the front wheels straight to keep it from swiveling.
The Nano was designed to equally distribute your child’s weight all over the stroller, this makes hopping over a curb feel effortless. No more kicking the back wheel to hop over a curb, just pop the front wheels and off you go.
However, some users have complained about a rear-wheel issue. Some have experienced wobbly rear wheels and some say that the rear wheel came off after a couple of use. The manufacturer from their end has been said to be very swift in troubleshooting these issues by sending repair kits or replacing parts and units.
The Adjustable Leg Rest
The Nano also has an adjustable leg rest to make napping while strolling a comfortable experience for your child. It also has a foot rest.
The 5-point Harness
The 5-point harness is pretty secure and easy to release with just one press of a button. However, it has no guardrail or bumper bar at the front.
The Nano stroller’s canopy is made up of solid fabric material with 2 panels and a shade that extends to the front. For a stroller as small as this, I would say that the canopy is pretty huge. But for added protection from the sun and rain, you may want to get a Nano All Weather Cover Set ,which is a sun mesh and a plastic storm cover. This accessory is sold separately.
Wrapped in thick, quality foam, the handlebar of the nano is easy to hold and steer even with just one hand. Although the handlebar is fixed at 38.5 inches high, testers of various heights from 5’6″ – 5’9″ said it is at a comfortable position for pushing.
This color-coded brake is very easy to operate. To lock, just step on the red part and to unlock, just step on the blue part of the brake.
Does this fit inside inside an airplane cabin?
Yes, it does. Most airlines would accept the Nano as a carry-on luggage. Just make sure to check first with your airline before traveling as policies of airlines sometimes change. It comes with a travel bag and shoulder strap for convenience.
Every purchase is covered by a 1-year warranty for all models. More about their warranty policy here.
Price is actually very affordable! The Nano is around $240 – 270 for the set of stroller frame, seat and the carrycot.
Now, is the Mountain Buggy Nano a good investment? I say, yes.
If you are a little concerned about the issues that some users have raised, I encourage you to take these with a grain of salt as there are also a lot of users who swear by the stroller’s impressive performance. I guess, there are just a few lemons in the bunch and so far, its customer after-care has been awesome. Don’t be too quick to dismiss it because for its price, this one is quite a steal.
