Still writing about Below $100 Strollers, Chicco Liteway, is included in my guilt-free buy list not only because it is cheap but because this stroller did not scrimp on design and features. This product has been in the market since around 2013 and it is showing no signs of leaving Amazon’s roster of top-selling lightweight strollers despite the competition. Is Chicco Liteway Stroller A really good deal?
If this neat little stroller is one of your prospects, here’s a break down of the things that you need to know about the Chicco Liteway stroller.
Notable Features of the Chicco Liteway Stroller
1. It Doesn’t Look Cheap At All
There are a lot of umbrella strollers that I can write about, but honestly, I didn’t want to right about things that I don’t really like. I am very picky when it comes to style and the last thing that I would want for my child is to ride on a cheap-looking stroller. Style doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg and Chicco Liteway showed us that.
The stroller comes in many different shades but the most common ones are: Fog, Lagoon, Ocean, Sunset and Astral. The colors are nice and chic. The matching colors of the seat and the aluminum frame at the back is a nice touch. The word “Liteway” is printed on the same frame which gives the stroller a nice character. For a $100 this stroller is quite a looker. Check out price and product inclusions here.
2. It is Very Comfortable To Ride On
Your baby will experience maximum comfort riding the Chicco Liteway. The seat is spacious and deep with a built-in adjustable leg rest that offers support to your baby’s legs. With its well-padded seat and back rest that reclines to a near-flat position, babies will love sleeping on this stroller. Reclining it is easy, you just have to squeeze the adjuster behind the seat and pull down the seat to your preferred position. If you want to adjust it to a more upright position, just push the seat forward and it will snap back in place.
It also this tuck-away nylon fabric foot wrap that you can sort of wrap around the bottom part of the stroller to keep your baby’s legs from flailing.
3. It Can Be Used Until Your Child is 5!
The frame is made of strong aluminum but lightweight metal that can carry your baby from 6 months up to 5 years old or about 40 lbs.
4. It is Easy To Drive
Your baby will feel like riding an SUV with Chicco Liteway’s adaptable wheels. It has a 5.5 inch-front wheels and 7-inch rear wheels that are equipped with rear-wheel suspensions. This stroller will perform well on both smooth and uneven surfaces. If you want to make the ride steadier, you can lock the front swivel wheels manually. The ergonomic, soft handles are easy to steer even by taller people.
5. It is Ready for the Rainy and Cold Season
I guess Chicco thought that a little sunshine wouldn’t hurt your baby. You may find the size of Chicco Liteway’s canopy to be a little short. For more coverage from the sun’s heat, you may want to buy a canopy extension online that costs less than $15. The canopy also has a peek-a-boo window at the top so you can check out your kiddo from time to time.
But, Chicco Liteway more than prepared for the rainy and cold seasons. The package comes with a rain cover and a foot muff to keep your baby warm during winter. Moms can also bring a cup of coffee as this package comes with parent cup holder as well.
6. It has a Manageable Fold
Let’s start with the Unfold. Just unlatch the lock located at the side of the stroller, push the front part of the stroller forward and push down the rear-locking mechanism using your foot.
To fold, step on the lever located at the right side of the stroller, push up the rear locking mechanism using your foot, push the back part of the stroller forward.

7. Other Features
- There are 2 brakes that are found on each rear wheel. Both are very intuitive to use.
- The 5-point harness system is very secure.
- The underneath basket has a decent space for storing a medium-sized diaper bag.
- The fabrics are machine washable.
- It has a handle at the side for easy carrying.
Limitations and Disadvantages
Chicco Liteway Stroller Weight – It is 17-lbs Heavy
I don’t think I have to elaborate on this but for an umbrella stroller 17.2 pounds is just heavy. If you are someone who is petite and hates heavy stuff. This might not suit you well.
It Will Not Be Allowed to Be a Carry-On Luggage in Planes
Because umbrella-type strollers do not fold small, the Chicco Liteway’s chances of being accepted as a carry-on luggage on airplanes is slim to none. You have to check it in as a luggage or, at most, you can ask the airline if it will be accepted for gate checking.
- Has a nice design
- Has a spacious and fully-reclinable seat
- Has an adjustable leg rest
- Can be used from birth to 40 lbs.
- Easy umbrella-style folding and unfolding procedures
- Machine-washable fabrics
- It is below $100
- Heavy at 17 lbs
- Doesn’t stand upright when folded
- Canopy is a little short
- Takes a lot of space
Overall, the Chicco Liteway stroller is a good budget stroller that has all the necessary features and more. The major downside is the weight and size. If that is something that you can handle then you will definitely appreciate this neat little set of wheels. I would recommend this as an everyday stroller. If you have a large vehicle with a spacious trunk, this will fit well. This is NOT very ideal for travels.
